CRISP Goals
A better technology for providing registry information services than today’s whois protocol.
Currently targeted at DNS registry/registrar data, although it should be flexible enough to be considered by other registries as applicable
Not an academic or protocol research exercise: need to engineer a solution to a real problem with existing standards technology, as much as possible
“Universal” means a distributed service model, not a centralized database.
Output needs to be capable of implementing services that support whatever policy decisions that are made by relevant bodies
Creating technology standards, not any policy choices
