• whois_rip (port 43 server) uses core syntax

  • Descriptions for “-t” and “-v” flags come from XML
  • SQL processing comes from XML
  • Integrity checks independent of library (e.g. referential)

• dbupdate (mail processor) uses front-end syntax

  • Syntax error messages come from parser
  • External checks independent of library (e.g. authorisation)
