ASO Address Council
The RIRs have begun the process of reviewing IPv6 allocation policy.
- Current IPv6 allocations are done under the “bootstrap” rules which allow for any company using IPv6 in production to obtain an allocation
- Agreement among all RIRs to accept /48 as standard assignment for subnetted sites (64k subnets)
- Policies under review include default allocation size (currently /35, 8k /48s), and standard assignment sizes for various end-user sites
