IDNA (with nameprep) defines how to handle internationalized domain names
This implies any Unicode codepoint
- Which are assigned and not mapped to other codepoints in the nameprep step
That doesn’t mean it is a good thing to have a domain name with for example:
- Picture drawing characters
- Non-spacing-space
- Privately assigned codepoints
- Selection characters
- "...these characters normally have no visual appearance. Their sole purpose is to guide the rendering process in selecting the appropriate glyphs to represent base Mongolian letters in a particular context."
