Don’t re-invent the wheel

• Instead:

  • adapt existing IGP extensions for MPLS traffic engineering
    • Add new TLVs (Link-type TLV, SRLG TLV, …)
  • adapt existing MPLS constraint-based routing algorithms
  • adapt existing MPLS signaling protocol
    • e.g. RSVP-TE to instantiate optical channels
  • identify additional (optical) domain specific requirements
